The print revolution, following Johannes Gutenberg’s invention of the printing press in the 15th Century, is an exceedingly important event that paved the way for the modern period. Suddenly, the book was no longer exclusive to obscure libraries of the elite nor was it too costly for the masses to afford.
More than a half of a millennium has gone by and the book is again teetering on another “print” revolution—only this time no printing press, paper, or ink is involved.
